Sunset Ride: From Lustignano to Querceto
This cycling route winds through the heart of lesser-known Tuscany, amidst geothermal steam, pristine forests, and medieval villages that seem suspended in time. Departing in the late afternoon allows you to avoid the summer heat and enjoy an unforgettable light show.
Start: Lustignano, a charming village in the municipality of Pomarance, perched on a hill and surrounded by wild nature and the characteristic boric acid fumaroles of the geothermal area.
Departure: Querceto, a hamlet of Montecatini Val di Cecina, a splendid medieval castle-village nestled among vineyards, perfect for a welcome return.
Itinerary Features
Ambience and Landscape: The first part of the journey is characterized by the almost lunar landscape of the geothermal hills, which then gently slopes towards the classic Tuscan countryside of olive groves, vineyards, and cypress-lined roads. As you head west, the sun will set directly in front of you, painting the sky with warm hues.
The Route: The route combines secondary roads with little traffic, ideal for enjoying a safe ride. It features a hilly profile with continuous ups and downs that require a minimum level of fitness, or alternatively, an e-bike to enjoy the view in complete relaxation.
The Return and a Convivial Dinner
The best way to conclude this wonderful experience is to gather around the table. Upon returning from the ride, a hearty dinner awaits you, allowing you to recharge in good company with the authentic flavors of the region.
